Creative team
Géza Bereményi
writer
The play was first developed for the Radnóti Theatre, and Bereményi was approached by Krisztina and the other members of the team to make a really captivating play from the copious background materials. The story takes place in the sixties and the present time of writing, and is one of Bereményi’s most accomplished stage pieces.
My favourite pastime in nature: I am sitting on the shore by the reeds, watching the ducks hunt.
Krisztina Kovács
writer-dramaturge
The play was based on Krisztina Kovács’s idea of a story encompassing two generations, where events of past and present alternate between going forwards and backwards in time.
My favourite pastime in nature:
Going on a hike, but really, a city park would do if there is enough greenery around me.
Bertalan Bagó
director
The professional relationship of Bertalan and Géza goes back a long way, what’s more, they led the theatre of Zalaegerszeg together at the beginning of the 00s. Bertalan has staged several of Géza’s works, but this is his first time directing Apaches.
My favourite pastime in nature:
Sailing towards Badacsony on a gloomy day at the end of September, with a strong crosswind from the southwest.

András Csontó
set and costume design, set video
My goal is to bring the spirit of the era to life first and foremost with costumes, using only minimal theatrical scenery reflecting spatial relations. The film animation running on the LED wall in the background simultaneously creates the atmosphere of the setting and visualizes thoughts unsaid.
My favourite pastime in nature:
We recently moved into a house near the edge of a small village. In the mornings, I go check whether the fence is still up and standing or was trampled by boars yet again.
Drama
The story
We are in the summer of 1963. A group of friends in the communist Hungary move to the wilderness of Bakony for an extended role play game, assuming the identity of American Indians. Each of them chooses their own Indian name, and they settle on the foundations of the game.
